Fasting again. It's 9:46 and I haven't had an urge to eat. Probably helps that I manged to add 2 lbs to my weight between Sat and this morning. Plus my last food last night was high protein.

206 this morning!

Fasting really does seem to have a lasting negative impact. So far nothing negative noticed. Watching like a hawk for some sign of a negative impact.

12-10-2007

208 this morning in spite of a delicious 3 layer zucchini cake w/ cream cheese frosting my wife made on Friday. Fast #2, we'll see how this goes. Might have to mimic last week on the time frame because like last week it was kind of late when I last ate anything. Though not as late as last week. I think it was around 8 or 8:30 when I ate that last Clementine. Should be able to make it to 22 or 23 hours on this fast w/out any real problems.

208 today and yesterday.

The fast seems to have had some impact. Though minor, I am not so voraciously hungry. I'm sitting in front of my morning cereal that is about 1/3 gone and haven't had a desire to touch it.

Fasting

Updates on my progress. Goal is a 24 hours fast. Likely to get cut short to avoid eating and going to bed.
-First hunger pains at 12 hours and 15 mins
-16 hours and 30 mins slight headache and additional hunger pains
-17 hours headache seems more severe... might be related to a lack of caffeine. Hunger pains have subsided.

207 yesterday! 210 today....

I have decided, largely this morning in shower after seeing the 210, that I am going to try a retune of my body. I read an article on NPR about retuning the body w/ regular fasting. The basics of it are fasting no more often than once a week for 12-24 hours. It's supposed to help regulate your insulin levels (thus decreasing the sweet tooth), adjust your metabolism so you burn more calories, and program your body to expect time w/out food. From what I can gather, the basic theory is that the human body is supposed to have periods of hunger and w/out them it thinks that we are in a state of feast and stores everything it can. It jacks up your insulin levels trying to accomplish this and then your metabolism. Then the famine never happens and then we all know what that leads to. This is supposed to put us in control of our own mini famines so that the body is forced back to it's natural state. I'm just past 12 hours as of now. Let's see if I can make it another 12!
